Day Eight: Good/Bad

Well. I knew these days would come up and it’s not like it was the most devastating day out there but it definitely put a damper on things. I heard back from one of the job postings I applied for and on the flip side I found out today that I won an award?! Say what?! So if you haven’t figured out what’s the good news and what’s the bad then read on (actually read on anyways).

This is what I got the other day:

Dear Mitch,

Thank you for your interest in ***** and your application for the Promotions Coordinator position.  We have reviewed all applications and have selected the candidates we would like to interview.  After careful consideration of all applicants, we regret to inform you that you have not been selected for an interview.

Your application will be kept in our database for a period of 3 months and you are welcome to re-apply to any future opportunities that may be of interest to you.

We wish you well in your job search and thank you again for your interest in *****.

Yours sincerely…

And although I knew it was a long shot… I felt a little defeated. A bitter-sweet issue. I was complaining that I hadn’t heard anything from anywhere I applied… but then when I do it’s that ^. Oh well nothing ice cream can’t fix… but then…

This morning I got a phone call from an unknown number… to which again my head skipped ahead to a future employer calling me to beg me to work for them… unfortunately it wasn’t but it was BCIT calling me to tell me I won the BCAB (British Columbia Association of Broadcasters) BCIT Top Broadcaster 2010 Award. WHAT?! HAHA. So now after my graduation ceremony, I get an award. That’s going to be a good day!

So my personal lesson: You can only be in a funk for so long! Also, hard work pays off (yes, I realize it’s a cliche… but I’m saying anyways)

WOOOOHOOO
